Here's where I stand... where are you?

So it's going to be an extremely long day, considering I started working at 9 today and won't be done til 'nigh 11 tonight. But alas, City Hall does lend itself to be a very good place to think and record things, so I figured I'd speak out on some of my views and see where my friends stand on 'em too ( Read more... )

I don't know that we're long overdue for ours, man. Those damned dinosaurs lived for 100s of millions of years before the comet hit them. Humanity is in reality more like a blink in the timeline of the planet. It's amazing how far we're come in that time ( ... )

I love your positive outlook on things man. I totally agree with you as far as life and significance go, I was just trying to make a point about how arrogant we are about it. And as far as our existence as a race, well time will tell I guess.

Also remember that the dinosaurs had tons of different eras with extremely different species every one. So as humans, we may evolve and adapt into something else, but I doubt this form of human (homo erectus? god that looks bad) will sustain itself much longer.

I think what is different about humans is that we are evil. Dinosaurs were not evil, they killed and ate to survive. We kill for possesions, ideas, passions, and very bad ideas. I think humans, unlike any other animal on this planet, is striving to destroy itself every single day. And every single day we are on the edge of destroying ourselves in one way or another. It's only a matter of time until we run out of luck.

they expect all people to follow these, which is simply preposterous. To believe that others must act a certain way is the pinnacle of intolerance, like it or not.

I'm not sure how central this is to judaism historically, I think that's more of a modern adaptation.

Buddism in it's orthodox forms can be as repressive and dogmatic as any western religion, i've been touched by it's truths, healed by some of it's practices, and scared off by what it seems to do to some people. it's not much fun nessesarily either, rather the point I suppose.
