Snow!! + kitty picspam

Nov 03, 2007 12:28

Yay - snow at last! We had an entirely snow-free October this year, which was just odd - usually there are at least some mild snow showers.

Not that I expect it to stay, but it's rather pretty right now.

One snow picture and kitty picspam behind the cut. )

Snow? I'm not fond of snow, except on Sundays, when I don't have to go out.

I think you can nominate as many stories as you'd like, and in as many categories as you'd like. That's what I've done, and the mods didn't slap my wrist. I think the mods then sort the stories according to the categories they've been nominated into, and how many times, etc.

I'm rather fond of snow for the simple reason that snow = light. Now that it gets too dark well before 5 pm already, snow is more than welcome! As long as it stays snow and doesn't turn into muddy slush, which it unfortunately tends to do most of the time.

I think there is no limit, yeah, but I was just thinking that if it's an award thing, then one should probably attempt to nominate the "best" ones and not absolutely everything... the problem is to figure out the best ones as I just tend to like all of the ones I've saved/marked as favourites in various archives/can actually remember.

It's a good thing this round was limited to the classics or I'd be tearing my hair out in frustration now. :-D

Your cats are adorable! *wants to cuddle them all* I'm not picking favourites, but Kribu has something about her face that makes me go "awwww, how cute". I think it's the white around her mouth, stretching to nose and cheeks - and the slightly pinkish nose :)
Have fun outdoors if you decide to go out! :)

I love all my cats but I do think Kribu is the most adorable cat we've ever had - not just in looks but also in personality. She's just so awfully nice and friendly and purry. Whenever she's not destroying things, that is - although she's also terribly cute when destroying things, with a determined look and completely ignoring anyone trying to get her to stop.

And there was some chocolate on the scanner too, which obviously isn't visible on the pictures as it's being slept on. Can't really blame anyone but myself if it's all molten now, I guess...

Oh, that must be great to watch her destroying things - I bet it's something that you could watch forever with a huge grin on your face :)
I do have to get a cat one of these days! You're cats are just too cute and I'd love to have a friendly, purry little friend as well - even if it means tons of molten chocolate :)
How long have the cats been with you?

It's very cute, yes. Like here, eating a sheep-shaped pillow (it's fur in her mouth).

I love cats, so I'd say go for it. ;-) I think everyone (who isn't allergic) should have a cat or two!

Kribu and Musti are 11 years old now, and we've had them since they were2 months old or so... Pätsu is 7 and she was also around 2 months old when we found her. So it's been a while.

At least this box is twice the size of the previous one that they all liked and that Kribu still tries to sleep in (with most of her hanging over the sides). It is quite interesting though how you can get a cat appear quite square when you have an appropriate box provided... :-D

The snowfall is getting even heavier here, but as it's +1°C, I don't expect it to stay around for long. Too bad.

Lovely, lovely cats! I must post a picture of Mr Horrible sometime. He's rather beautiful. Lovely snow, too.

I've been thinking about these nominations, and have decided to stick with stories that have somehow managed to stay in my mind. So I won't be nominating in every category.

It'll still take time, though.

Am doing the accounts - how tedious. But we're still solvent.

Please do! *likes cats - in case people haven't noticed*

I didn't nominate in every category either. I think I did eventually come up with a couple of shorter ones, but as I have no clue about older drabbles/serial drabbles, I didn't nominate anything there. I don't think I managed AU either - I'm a little unclear about what constitutes AU anyway (anything veering quite far from canon as it was then known?), and any stories I could think of seemed to fit better under some of the other genre categories.

Lovely picspam! Snow? I'm envious. Although snow in London goes all horrible and mushy very, very quickly. Even where I live in Cambridgeshire, it's rather pathetic.

Musti would probably be most insulted. I just committed the faux pas of laughing at the picture of her in the box from above. Whenever I laugh at my own cat, she tends to look rather affronted... except these days she doesn't seem to hear me laugh as she's going deaf.

I've a nasty feeling that I've forgotten to nominate a few stories... even though like you I haven't nominated every classic story I liked.

I think it takes at least -8°C or so for the snow to stay pretty in central town and not turn into horrid dirty mud. Just a degree or two below freezing point is generally enough here though.

I laughed at Musti when I took the picture, so it's okay. ;-) They do look a bit affronted when people laugh at them though. But then, when you give them a hug they're all happy again. Sometimes cats are so easy to please.

I wanted to nominate at least some stories that I liked that aren't generally named among the "big" ones that everyone knows and will nominate anyway... trouble is that I've forgotten what/where most of them were.

And then with the nominating, some of the stories I immediately thought of can't be nominated this round as they were first posted after the release of HBP. Internal mental wail of 'But it's a classic to me!', only partly placated by putting 'Round 2' next to the titles.

It was a game finding the stories for the links, and to make sure that they could be nominated. There's at least one that I initially forgot that I'll have to include on another post. I'm just glad that the posts are screened so that no one but the mods and me will know what I forgot.

Oh yeah, I had to discount a few too, which were a little newer than I had expected. At least it means there won't be any problems finding too many things again for the next round!

I think I might have to make yet another post too (already had to post my nominations in two comments, as there were too many for one - went over the comment character limit!), but will probably hold on to see if I remember a few more I'd definitely want to add. Especially once I get around to checking a few more of the old "in stasis" WIPs that I loved but will likely never get finished.
