I know, I know ... I've tried to get back into the LJ rhythm before and not really managed. Well, I'm going to try and make a proper effort this time.
Not the least because I've really, well .. missed a proper online place to hang out, which isn't 100% fandom-specific.

Cut for all sorts of whiny stuff. )

It does! I should get plane tickets sorted out soon, too, just to be on the safe side. :D

#1 got a paperback of some new Skulduggery Pleasant stories the other day. Have you seen it? (Of course you have.)
Squee! for Dr Who tickets!

I assume it was the Armageddon Outta Here paperback edition - that one did come with some extra stories (compared to the original hardback). And yes, I do have it. :o (Although I admit that I haven't actually got around to reading those extra stories...)
Squee indeed! I'm now all booked, as flights and hotels go, so now it's just to wait patiently until November (and hope that S9 won't kill off my love for the show, which S8 rekindled, although I've seen enough intriguing pics from various location shoots to be pretty sure that whatever the plots, Capaldi is going to look damn hot, so there's that).

The tiredness seems to be a general thing, yes. Sigh. Here's to hoping for better days ahead for you and me both.
And yes, I really hope it'll be a good thing for me. At least I now have something specific to look forward to.

Yeah, tumblr is a very narcissistic medium. I had a similar experience. Plus, falling in love with two tv series that have been cancelled for a few years now and a pairing hardly anyone is interested anymore didn't really help.
It takes time to get over the loss of kitteh!friends.
~hugs~
Yay for Doctor Who tickets and going to London!

But like you I'll be using it differently from now on. I'll probably still be reblogging things I like, but I've resolved to be less generous with my likes and not to expect anything in terms of interaction from people there.
Btw, I don't think your reaction is childish at all. Actually I had a similar reaction when I became all enthusiastic about something new and nobody could be bothered to say hi or follow me back. Worse, when I was absent for a couple of weeks due to computer problems I lost a couple of followers...
Actually, I've received more responses and encouragement to my current obsession on the supposedly dead lj than on tumblr, though my guess is that this a fandom - like HP - that used to be heavily based on lj, so people are still sticking around.
I'm sorry I missed your prompts post! I would have been happy to try to tickle your muse. It would be great to see you writing again!

I remember the days when SSHG was really active - it was bit daunting but also much easier for a newbie to become part of it. Obviously there are people here with larger followings, who get many more comments etc, but there was always a group effort to make newbies feel welcome and fit in, and if you made any effort of your own in return, to interact, you just wouldn't be 100% ignored for long stretches of time after that.
I don't see any such group effort on tumblr. Sigh.
I might want to ask for drabble prompts at some point on LJ - not now, since work is keeping me extremely busy, but at some point. I do have a few ideas - have for a while - for longer Twelve/Clara oneshots/fics, but between lack of time & energy and the blank page block, I have no idea if or when I'll actually get any of those written.
