Something Every Day - can I manage this?

I know, I know ... I've tried to get back into the LJ rhythm before and not really managed. Well, I'm going to try and make a proper effort this time.

Not the least because I've really, well .. missed a proper online place to hang out, which isn't 100% fandom-specific.

Cut for all sorts of whiny stuff. )

fandom, fangirling, randomness

Yeah, I just ... I don't think I'm a good fit for tumblr. It's a terrific place to be a passive onlooker in - all the pics and gifs are wonderful! - but discussions are near impossible and unless you're one of the "in" crowd, which I never will be, making any posts of my own is just pointless.

It's not that I crave a lot of attention, but if not a single person out of my 95 followers as much as acknowledges a single personal post (or for that matter a long, thoughtful, meta-ish fandom related post), then it's just easier to not bother.

G+ started off well but yeah, it's pretty dead. And the ability to just +1 a post is both a benefit and a curse - it's easy to acknowledge and show you've read someone's post, but it's so tempting to leave it at that since I rarely actually have anything to add, and again, that doesn't really make for good discussion...

I'm really excited for the festival. :D Ultimately, I'm not going to lie - I really do hope I'll get a photo (I might faint though if I got within a half a metre distance of PCap so I'm not really sure it's a good idea) but seriously, even if that doesn't happen, I'm pretty determined I'm going to enjoy it. Hours of queueing and all. :D

... I know. You just can't get good furniture that has manners and doesn't randomly punch you in the limbs or body these days!
