Random stuff + frosty picspam

Dec 03, 2012 23:09

I've been feeling a little ... adrift, or something, for a while now. No more writing. Reading books is starting to feel like a chore. There is nothing I want to watch. The Internet has lost its appeal, by and large. I just sort of drift from one thing to another, trying to find a way to pass the time until bedtime, bored and not really enjoying ( Read more... )

*hugs*

That drifting feeling and lack of enjoyment sounds all too familiar. Not that being in the same boat really helps there.

*more hugs*

Hope that some enjoyment comes back. Glad the walk was nice - the picspam from it certainly is! So very pretty. And so very hard to choose a favourite. I think the frosty trees in the sunshine might be it, but there's the blackbird peeking out, and the frosty grass thingy, and... Well. So very, very pretty.

Oh whoops, got distracted by the pretteh pics and almost forgot about the bit after them. Yay for pretty snow today, but definitely not yay for wading through it with the shopping weighing you down. Hope it was good for your leg muscles, or at least good exercise if it killed said leg muscles.

Yeah. I guess I keep looking for that Next Thing to get me all enthusiastic about stuff, but...

The walk was nice, although my hands froze a bit (switched my nice warm mittens for mum's gloves as her hands were freezing and at least I had pockets to stuff my hands to at times) and my shoulders & neck are complaining a bit from the camera + rucksack with food on the way home... It really was very pretty, though!

Yeah, wading through snow is a lot like wading through soft sand (or water), especially with heavier footwear - a bit more of a workout for legs than clean asphalt! I like it, generally, but a bit less so with a bag of cat litter in hand.

It was lovely!

Winter can have its downsides, but it certainly makes up for it with the beauty.

The talent is all about just living in the right place! Really, I do nothing but point a camera towards something and click...

Thanks. :D

Wikipedia says we have about 300,000-400,000 pairs of blackbirds during nesting season and ~5000 individuals during winter. So, yeah, the overwhelming majority of ours go away for the winter, much like our jackdaws do. I think they're just not fond of our winters but don't travel quite the way some birds do.

Maybe it's an early midlife crisis we're going through? *hugs* I do hope that writing mood will continue for you!

*happy sigh* I love your winter pictures. Especially the frosty pines, frosty trees and sunshine, and the blackbird.

It snowed all day yesterday (all day) and by the end of the day, there was maybe a quarter inch of snow on the ground. :-( So I'm snow and frost envious atm. Even for the tough slog through the field. Though maybe not with the heavy load...

*hugs*

Yeah, we rarely get the sort of snow some places get, i.e. half a metre in a day or so, but the snowfall in the last couple of days has been reasonable. Enough to look like real winter, anyway!
