First, the non-spoiler review - so much squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Now, the spoilery review. Do not read until you have seen the movie. Seriously. It is so much better going in not spoiled.

I mean it. Don't read this until after you've seen the movie... )

The old Khan I feel like had more emotional depth, probably since he'd actually interacted with Kirk & Co before, but my preferred description is "a really cut version of David Bowie in Labyrinth"

But Cumberbatch's acting, oh my god, that was incredible!

Wasn't it! I was thinking after why he isn't in more movies, and also that I need to get season one of Sherlock ;)

I loved every single minute of it. I thought it was even better than the first one (which is saying something based on how much I adored that one). So, so good.

And Karl Urban in Almost Human this fall!! On my TV EVERY WEEK! Squee!!

I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next one. Hopefully it will not be as long a wait. Also, I hope they go with completely original material, rather than reworking a storyline from the prime universe. It was very enjoyable, but I would like to see them step away and do their own story again.

I loved that everyone had something to do in the film, esp. Scotty and Chekov:)

Yeah, my mom and I were actually talking about this very thing after the movie. They have the potential to get really creative and I would love to see them go there (one of the things we discussed is them discovering a new alien race - maybe something that didn't exist in the original verse "for reasons" and this species ends up being more of a threat than even the Klingons).
