Powerless
My day working at home today was disrupted twice by unexpected power outages. Considering we've weathered fierce storms without any trouble, it was bizarre that today's light flurries would cause any trouble, but our whole neighborhood went black both at noon today and then at 7pm. My guess is they tripped something up with the big highway construction nearby.
Ironically, both outages occurred just as I was getting a meal prepared, so I had to stop and remain hungry because our stove is electric (as is, obviously, the microwave). The first lasted over an hour, while the second lasted only 20 minutes, but they were both long enough that I was all ready to leave the house and work/eat elsewhere when the power came on. It was fun, however, to go outside during the first one and walk by all the people sitting in the dark at Pepe's, unwilling to cede their precious seats at a typical crowded lunchtime.
