http://glamaiira.livejournal.com/11553.html Kris opened his eyes at the sound of footsteps. He cautiously watched as a very thoughtful-looking Adam walked into the kitchen. Water was dripping from that jet black hair, soaking the upper part of his grey Queen t-shirt. He was wearing a pair of black sweatpants and had apparently just emerged from the shower. Kris knew from experience that Adam liked taking a long shower when he needed to be alone and think. Well, that or listening to his iPod. ‘He’s not freaking out…’ He had been a little nervous about Adam’s reaction to Kris being a wolf. Who wouldn’t find that strange? When you find out in the way Adam did; well, Kris could only imagine how alarming that must have been.
“You can drink from a bottle if I help you, right?” Kris was startled by Adam’s calm voice and he looked up to meet a pair of ice blue eyes looking back at him questioningly. “I don’t think I have a bowl.”
Kris blinked. ‘Yeah, I think I can handle that.’ It came out as a whining sound, and he wiggled his tail to emphasize. Adam nodded in silence as he grabbed one each of the pills Nate had given him last night and then sat down on the floor.
“I’m not mixing these into your food.” His voice sounded very a-matter-of-factly as he held out the pills to Kris. “You’ll just have to take them like any other normal person."
The last sentence out of Adam’s mouth made a feeling of relaxation and joy flow all through Kris’s body. ‘A normal person. Thanks, Adam.’
After he’d taken the pills with some water - Adam, apparently, was a natural at handling the bottle without dripping outside Kris’s mouth - he lay down again, resting his head in Adam’s lap. Except for the injuries, this moment was perfect. Kris promised himself to never forget it, whatever may happen in the future.

Adam scratched the wolf behind one ear and smiled as the big animal let out a deep breath and closed his eyes, leaning into the touch. ‘Same old Kris. No wonder he always acted a little overly cuddly for a straight boy.’
“I feel like Bella Swan right now.” He couldn’t help but giggle as those brown eyes glanced up at him. “I do! The only thing that’s missing is Edward crashing through the front door and telling you to get your furry head out of my lap.”
Kris wiggled his head further into Adam’s lap, which made his t-shirt rise up a little at the front, exposing bare skin. A shiver ran down Adam’s spine as he felt the wolf’s tongue suddenly licking at the bare skin. He was just going to say something about the unfairness when his phone started ringing. Pulling it out of his pocket he raised an eyebrow at the display. ‘Well, speak of the devil…’
“If it isn’t my very own Tommy Joe Cullen.”
“Hey… what?”
Adam chuckled and shook his head.
“Sorry, nothing. What’s up?”
“Told you all that reading will give you permanent brain damage. Anyway, we’re going out tonight. You coming?”
“I have…” Adam glanced down at the wolf, ‘I have Kris in wolf form lying in my lap. Right. Great idea, telling him that.’ “I haven’t slept well, so I think I’ll just stay at home. Sleeping.”
“Suit yourself, man.”
“Have fun, Glitterbaby. Play nice with the other kids and don’t bite anyone!”
He could hear Tommy chuckle on the other end as they hung up.
“Guess it’s just you and me tonight.” Adam pushed the wolf off his lap so that he could stretch out on the floor himself. It was chilly and hard, but he could live with it. When Kris shifted, resting his head on Adam’s chest and one of those big paws on his stomach, he began to enjoy the whole lying-on-the-floor thing. He put his right arm under his head as a pillow and started lazily stroking Kris’s soft fur with his left hand.
“Still a cuddlebunny.” He smiled down at those clear brown eyes that seemed like they had so much to say. “You’re the most adorable wolf there is. I wouldn’t mind you staying here even after your injuries are healed.”
Kris yelped, a sound that could only pass for a happy exclamation, and wiggled its tail. A heartfelt laugh bubbled up through Adam as the wolf licked his chin in an affectionate way.
”That’s it! I’m keeping you! Katy can’t have you back.”
Katy. Kris’s blonde little wife. She probably had no idea what had happened. Or if Kris was even okay. ‘I wonder if she knows about the wolf. Maybe she…’ A snarl and the weight of Kris’s head disappearing snapped Adam out of his thoughts. He followed the wolf’s eyes and realized he was staring at the front door. Adam frowned, but just as he was about to ask Kris what it was, he heard voices coming from outside. Adam was dead sure he wasn’t expecting guests.
