It's just, with the Circle, we get to see the push-pull of these people through so many different situations and years, and it really is an ensemble series.
Yes. I was trying to explain that to myself and couldn't, because it's not like we don't see Alanna, for instance, in many different situations and experiences. The books follow her from 10 into her twenties!
But there is something really interesting about the way we follow the Circle and see them together and apart and in different places, dealing with such a variety of situations. It almost feels more realistic, grittier than the Tortall books. Especially the SotL and IQ.
