I messed up.

Yeah, no big confession.  I do it all the time.  With six kids in my home right now, screwing up is a daily occurrence.  I'll happily admit it.  But I was glancing back at this entry Here  and I was disappointed in myself.  "Yep, one of those moments I'm sure she wished her real mom had been there."  REAL MOM?  Did I write that?  I'm  ( Read more... )

I can relate with you. Some people who know our son is adopted will ask about his 'real mom'. I'm like, I'm his mother. So far we haven't had too many issues with him though he does have sensory impairement issues that the school district doesn't really address--that's a whole other blog in itself. But I know of others who've adopted children with some histories and get similar comments like you did.

You're doing an awesome job! I admire people like you.

That man isn't a teaser. He's passive aggressive. There was absolutely no good reason for him to say what he did. I'm sorry your son heard that.

Who welcomed the child into their home? You or the Teaser? You - that right there makes you a stronger person and better mom than the vast majority of people who are parents.

Goodness no. My kids are. They are the ones who do this. I'm learning from them. But I am a mom. With real mom moments of insecurities. I hope it's not just me.
