1.
Kim Kibum had all the popularity in the world. He was handsome-and pretty at the same time. He had both male and female admires. He had the best grades in the school and everybody knew his name. Despite all this, he rarely talked to anyone. So in his school, Kim Kibum talking to you-or let alone acknowledging what you said-makes you incredibly lucky and the source of everyone’s envy.
They weren’t classmates. They were only schoolmates, at least, that's what Kibum thought. They never talked to each other before that day. Kim Kibum never even saw the idiot before that rainy day.
Kibum stared at the wet pavement and curses under his breath. He had too many to bring that day and so he left his umbrella at home. He sighs heavily.
“Ah, seriously!” He tells himself angrily. “Of all the times I leave my umbrella, it had to be now! Where was the rain when I brought it yesterday?! Aish!”
“Oh, you don’t have an umbrella?” Someone spoke behind him.
Kibum turns around and finds himself face to face with a short-well, at least shorter than him-black-haired guy. He had a dinosaur-like face and a stupid smile was plastered on his face.
“What?” Kibum asks. “Who-“
“Here!” The guy handed his umbrella to Kibum and started wearing his school vest over his head.
“Wait, what about you?” Kibum asks. “You’ll get wet!”
“It’s okay. My house is near here.” He replies casually, not turning back to face the bewildered Mr. Popular. “We don’t want Mr. Popular to get wet, now do we?”
Kibum’s jaw drops and he immediately calls after the already running boy. “Ugh!” He exclaims to himself. He opens the umbrella and runs after the weird boy and shouts, “THANK YOU!”
The boy turns around and flashes Kibum another stupid smile. He turns back around and runs away, leaving the already bewildered Kibum even more bewildered.
Kibum walks home in shock. Not once in his life has he ever encountered someone of his… kind. That boy was just something else. His stupid grin and dinosaur-like face haunted Kibum’s mind and that creeped the fuck out of him. Just who is he? And why was he so… enchanting?
Kibum prepared for school early in the morning. He wore his uniform and quietly stared at the small umbrella on his desk. He takes it in his hands and sighs as he put it inside his bag before walking to school.
He arrives at school and heads to his classroom quietly. He notices the boy messing around with a classmate of his-Minho-which Kibum wouldn’t have known if not for his best friend Taemin, who was completely head over heels over the tall doe-eyed jock.
He was with others of course, but Kibum only knew Minho, and probably the other guy with them-Lee Jinki, or Onew-because he constantly kept greeting Kibum every morning. Onew likes Kibum, it was a fact. It was a fact that even the whole school knew. But Kibum never responded, never. He felt like it was a waste of time, considering he would not even talk to the guy the whole day.
Kibum walked forward, hearing the usual “Good Morning, Kibum!” from Lee Jinki. Kibum glanced at them for a moment and nods. “M-morning.”
Minho’s eyes grow wider. Onew falls off his sitting position on the stupid boy’s chair. And the stupid boy, well, he had his stupid smile plastered on his face-as usual.
“DID YOU HEAR THAT?! KIBUM GREETED BACK!” Onew shouts in excitement.
Kibum closes his eyes and mentally slaps himself. Why did he-He was just-he wasn’t supposed to say “Good Morning”! How hard is it to take an umbrella out of your bag and say thank you?
Kibum bit his lip and grabbed the umbrella from his bag. He took it out and placed it on Mr. Dinosaur’s table. Mr. Dinosaur looks up at him and blinks a couple of times.
“Th-thanks.” Kibum mutters.
He felt thousands of pairs of eyes following him as he sits down on his desk. It’s not as though he isn’t used to it. It felt different, somehow.
The whole day, Kibum hears barely audible voices whispering amongst each other. They all pretty much talked about the same thing the whole day. The talk of the day was how anti-social Kim Kibum thanked a guy named Kim Jonghyun, for lending him his umbrella.
