So I'm trying to write this fic, right?

But I take large breaks in between my writing sessions, because my writing sessions are also my editing sessions, as I edit while I write. So taking steps back always helps me to look at my piece semi-objectively, realise this or that part is crap, and desire to fix it, thereby also getting me into the 'writing mood ( Read more... )

Really? I've read metric tons, but never written anything substantial. You'll still read it, and I just had another friend who said that, as a fandom outsider, it made sense and she liked it. :D

AAHHHH! I love him. :3 I think I remember that episode. Was he not a sociopath without the murderating tendencies? Or am I mistaken?

Well I just got the rest of my fic mapped out, and it's fairly standard imo, so it shouldn't take me too long to finish the actual writing phase, but then I have to deal with editing. Which should be interesting. 8D But yeah. I hope the end of this week, saying I don't get this job I' interviewing for tomorrow. That may push things back a bit.

It's not crap. I mean, have you READ badfic? YOURS IS NOT. And if you wanted a second beta, it wouldn't be a bad idea. I mean, your current beta wouldn't be offended. :P

STOP TAKING LONG BREAKS. Short breaks=good, long breaks=bad.

YOU CAN DO IT! 8D

Yay for writing!!!!

Seems like you and I write the same way - reading/editing, and long breaks. LOL. Not the recommended way, maybe, but whatever. I don't write that much so it works for me.

Literally every time I'm working on something, there is a point when I read it and think: 'Shit, this is horrible.' At which point I take another break and let it kinda roll around in my head, until something clicks, and then I come back to it - because nothing works less for me than sitting and reading-rereading stuff that I think sucks. The clicking seems to happen either right before I fall asleep or right after I wake up... leading me to think that perhaps my problem is thinking TOO MUCH about it?? I dunno. Either way, I hope you're able to fix your story and work it out. :)

I know what you mean about 'not recommended.' Half the degree I just walked away from (but nearly completed) was writing classes. And this is totally not the way all the writing professors say to do it, but it works for me, and apparently you too! :D

Thanks for the adding, I'm honoured. I hope you like my fic! Due to some helpful inspiration from the beta, I might have it finished quite soon. But there will be bouts of thinking too much. It happens with we writery folk.

Yay for writing!
