I'm going to take a guess that it's already been challenged and upheld that churches can be polling places. I suspect it's just a practicality thing - they need large, public spaces to be polling locations, and their choices are pretty much schools and churches. I also vote at a church but they provide snacks so I'm...uh...biased. I like them. ...Maybe I'll find out for you, because I'm also curious. I think it's less likely to influence people since you basically go in knowing who you're voting for, so it's probably not really like the test research. I think the banner is a lot more questionable, and you might want to contact one of the places where you can report problems and/or the ACLU about that, because I do find that questionable.
