I liked the Da Vinci Code, too. Not for the writing, but I think the plot was a lot of fun - maybe because I was and still am totally into that kind of puzzle hunt. I had a birthday party like that, actually.

Wasn't familiar with House of Leaves, had to look it up on Amazon. One paragraph and my eyes glazed over.

You're reading the Codex Alera books? Those are my new favorite fantasy books EVER! How are you liking them?? I'm now totally addicted to them and eagerly await the next one, which, sadly, doesn't come out until December ;____;

Dude, I *love* Codex Alera. I read the first four books in like two weeks (and it only took me that long because I was forcing myself to savor them). I mean, love, love, love. Kitai is love. Araris is love. Maximus and Crassus are brotherly love. Fidelias is morally ambiguous love.

And of course, Tavi is just plain made of awesome.

I am definitely sad that the next book isn't until December, and I will probably buy it the day it comes out. =D What really makes me sad is that I can't imagine there will be that many more in the series, a conclusion which I draw from the way he names them. I mean, Furies of Calderone (hometown) < academ < cursor < captain < princeps. So what comes next? First Lord's Fury, maybe, and maybe even Furies of Alera or something like that... and that would be pretty much it. This saddens me.

Or, maybe I've just thought way too much about this. =D

omg Kitai is SO MUCH love. *ahem* Anyway, you have not thought too much about it because I've been thinking the same thing ever since I read the 4th one...I mean, there can't be that many left, but I somehow really hope he keeps the Alera world alive and maybe writes other stories set in Alera or something? Because that would own. It's just such an AMAZINGLY detailed and well done setting for fantasy. ...or maybe I'm just a sucker for elementals.

...hey...hey maybe you guys could write a story with elementals...maaaybe....maybe please? ... XD
