Fifteen-Month Wellbaby

Quentin had his 15-month checkup yesterday, at which we learned that he's gained less than a pound in the last three months, and is a good two inches shorter than Cassie was at this age. He's my wee little guy. He eats fine though, and had a stomach bug in the past 3 months, so we're not worried.

Dawwww, he's such a cutie!

Hopefully the lack of words is nothing to worry about. He may be saving them all up, like my pseudonephew, who apparently decided that it wasn't worth talking until he could form full, coherent sentences.

Now with real walking action!

I hope the hearing tests come out okay. I'm sure you've been told this, but sometimes in younger siblings there's a speech delay because they're waiting to be able to speak as coherently as their older sibling.

I think I kind of knew that. I also think there's some evidence that boys are a little slower in picking up communication skills, including the signing (which we also have evidence for, as Cassie was signing several months earlier, as well.) There's also the fact that, as a second child, we don't focus on him with the white-hot intensity that we did with her. We know he'll get it eventually, plus we don't have as much downtime to just sit around and practice signing and talking with him...
