So today I got a spam message on an old LJ post I did around eight years ago. It's one of those wangsty "omg someone pity meee" type posts I did regularly back then, so disposable I didn't even remember that I made it until the comment about the spam message reached my inbox

Oh, man! I wish I had a happy ending like that! A spambot dug up an old post of mine that I didn't even recognize as having been written by me until I remembered that I had made an alternate identity LJ years ago. I just about threw up-- there are many days when I'd just like to punch Past Self in the face, but being confronted with it like this was BAD.

At least it reminded me to finally delete that thing. It won't be missed. :|

I don't tend to look at my past LJ entries anymore because I'm usually terrified of the whole "Wait, I wrote that? Why did I write that? Why did I write it so badly?" factor, but it's nice to get some assurance that life is not crap and in fact getting better one day at a time.
