Another gift post

Gen is out and about, if still relying very lightly on a cane. He doesn't have large gifts, but he's still got a little something. For Edgar, Weena, Lynette, and Stephen Black. Though he of course would not mind any new acquaintences on Christmas day.

Edgar is himself engaged in a similar occupation, for although his countrymen are notoriously so abstemious from Christmas festivities that they actually used an army to break up a Christmas party, his own family nonetheless exchanges small gifts on this day. If he should happen to cross Gen's path, he will exclaim, "Mr. Watanabe! I had been searching for you, sir." There are dark hollows around his eyes, but these are only from staying up until dawn at his workbench.

He smiles. "And I you, Mr. Huntly. A happy Christmas to you."

"Happy Christmas, sir, and a joyous new year!" He has a small bag over his shoulder, and he touches it a bit self-consciously. "I had thought you might be pleased with a small gift--"

"And I you." He draws it out of his jacket, a smallish rectangular package. Between the shape and the giver, a book is a safe assumption. "It's nothing elaborate, but..."

In her language, as best he can, he says, "Happy winter, Weena. A gift." And he presents her with a box wrapped in shiny paper.

"Winter gift?" she enquires, tilting her head and rubbing the shiny paper happily.

He nods. "Yes. Open."

Lynette, of course, is far from familiar with Christmas. As far as she's concerned, it's just another cold day without sustained-climate control rooms. On the other hand, it's too chilly to sleep in the shed, so she's spent the night in Elaine's room and is downstairs making breakfast at the moment.

When he finds her, he half bows, and says, "Merry Christmas, Miss Lynette."

"Just Lynette, ser," she corrects automatically, poking the bacon with a wooden spoon.

"Lynette," he corrects himself, "I'm sorry." He comes in a bit. "I... have a small present for you, if you want it."
