Uh, Oops?

Ever since I made the shortgown I've started thinking about the bizarre caraco in the V&A again. I've toyed with the idea of making it just to figure it out for quite some time now. And for some reason, I've thought about it a lot today. Maybe because just the other day I realized that I have fabric for all the upcoming projects I have except ( Read more... )

Is that the one that Kendra did some time ago? Or tried to? I remember following along a whole lot of discussion and poring over pictures on her site. I'd love to see you recreate it, especially since I'm getting into the period some more.

It is--although it became an anglaise :)

I'm sure I will recreate it, as it's been in my mind for years now! Just when, is the question :)

One of the women who works at our Costume Design Center made that caraco http://mantuadiary.blogspot.com/search/label/Caraco. She managed to figure out how to cut it in one piece. I saw it at the B&T workshop we did together last fall. Looked nice!

Thank you! Very interesting to see it done :)

Also, I think I bought the same fabric. I got the last of the Williamsburg White at William Booth, Draper. And I think that's it. Unfortunately I'm working right now and can't look more closely at the moment, but definitely will later!

It doesn't look like Nicole posted any finished product pics, but she had the finished printed cotton caraco at the workshop. Fit better than the muslin did, probably because the cotton has a little more oomph to it.

The finished product is very nice. Too bad Nicole hasn't posted more pictures of her caraco since she finished it. It fit well and looked very nice.
