So, after several months of on and off reading, I finally finished Volume One of the Sherlock Holmes collection. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yeah I love it so much oh god
( Read more... )
Mainly, because, I just purchased and have begun reading The Adventures and Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes and I DO THE EXACT SAME THING. That is, will RDJ as Holmes and Jude as Watson. It's really rather more enjoyable that way, and slightly impossible not to do. (And, I'm not too sure of what Mr. Brett sounds like, so, I don't know if that will happen.)
But yes, I totally do that when I read a book after I've seen a movie version of it. Sometimes it is good, sometimes...not so much, (but with Sherlock it for sure is. I'm rather excited to read it actually. I've been meaning to for many, many moons.)
It's weird, but I really like it when I have such a stunning visual image of what's happening in a book, because I can picture/hear it so clearly. I mean, sure sometimes I liked to "make-up" what a character looks/sounds like, but when I'm fond of the actor who is playing the character, it just makes reading more fun for me.
I apologize for the rant, it was just odd since I was just thinking of this....
You'll love the stories! I'm glad that they made this movie (2009) because it motivated me to get into an awesome fandom and read some top-notch work.
(Side note: I'd recommend the Grenada series. Brett's fantastic and the whole thing is really true to the canon. The whole series is on Netflix, if you have it. Otherwise...it's probably floating around the internet somewhere).

I know! RDJ is particularly fun to picture/voice.
