Father Peter's secretary called me out of the blue today and wanted to see if we could meet with him this Saturday. We can do it and we will, but I feel really unprepared. Besides the fees for the service, chanter, altar assistant, and organist, we have to bring my baptismal certificate and Wyl's (or his baptismal date, and fax over the cert later ( Read more... )

When I was in college, I think my roommate had this very poster of Father Peter stuck on our wall. It was a bizzare semester.

Oh, I'm not even going to try to access that from a work computer.

I'm going to be doing my best to not think of this when we're meeting with him.

You're going to be at the Memorial Day festivities, right?

I was always a little cagey with our officiant about living arrangements.

Luckily, we were never asked point black about it...

We'll definitely be playing it as it comes. I've suggested that we can say we live in the same apartment building, which should answer the question fairly well.

It's not that I don't want to convert...it's that I don't know enough about Orthodoxy to make an informed decision. What I have seen, I like. And you know I have questions about where I fit into the Catholic Church.

I didn't mean to imply that you were against it. It's just that there are no plans one way or another at the moment.

If you feel comfortable mentioning it in the meeting, I'm sure Father Peter would have some suggestions for you. Also, I have a catechism book somewheres.

We got a lecture when we first said we lived together, but, by now, the priest seems over it. We didn't even try to hide it and gave the same address on the initial form. From what I've heard from Catholics is it tends to vary by priest. Our priest ended up telling us to make sure we prayed for strength and to go to confession a lot, lol.

Ha! Well, I guess it's the best one can hope for. They wouldn't be doing their jobs if they said, "Naw, that's cool, whatevs."
