Immediately after classes had let out for the day, Sai had made his way to the art room. As President--and currently the only member--of the Art club, he had to be there promptly in case anyone new showed up (not that it happened often) or the club's faculty advisor showed up (which happened on only a slightly more regular occasion). Most of the time it ended up being Sai, alone, in the art room for two hours, drawing or painting ( ... )

Hm... It was... REALLY quiet. Most of the time, the Houzuki house was blaring with music, or he was screaming as he ran around like a crazy boy--there was noise, regardless of where it came from. Those eyes moved up to the other boys and he blinked a couple times. ... Man, this was actually a little awkward. He... wasn't that creative--couldn't draw his way out of a paper bag. And sculpting...? The ones he made in elementary school looked like deranged ashtrays instead of cups or bowls. ... These hands were meant to DESTROY!

And he liked it like that!

"Alright, yeah, thanks." Well... Uhh... He didn't see many sharp things to mess around with... So... Err... He'd take his hands at messing with charcoal--maybe he could get some awesome lines on his face or something? It wasn't ever hard to do with charcoal... So, seating himself a couple seats down, the boy bit again on his lower lip, shooting a glance back. So, this guy was artsy, huh? Weird. "Where do you get inspiration? No music or anything?" That was an art thing, right?

Satisfied that he had done what he needed to do to get the boy to stay around, Sai returned to his painting. He analyzed his palette carefully, then looked down at one of the tubes, sighing slightly--the brown was nearly gone and he needed to finish the trunk of the tree today, before the paint dried, otherwise it would look all gobby and weird... He squeezed as much out of the tube as he could, crimping and rolling and re-rolling until he'd squeezed out every particle of paint he was going to get. It was going to have to be enough. Taking his palette knife, he deftly caught up a bit of it and mixed it with some gray, the color turning a bit more ashy to go along with the rest of the tree dominating the painting ( ... )

"Ah, yeah. I could see that." Staring at the blank page, Suigetsu finally placed the charcoal on it and moved it around a little. Maybe he could take some advice and draw what was in front of him. ... A white wall. ... Huh. Well.. Maybe he should turn a little. Ah. ... A desk. Alright, alright. Might as well give it a shot ( ... )

Sai's fingers tightened just a bit on his paintbrush as Suigetsu continued to speak. He normally wasn't bothered by sounds around him when he drew, but painting was a different story. Lines on paper could be erased, if they went awry; paint could not. Sure it could be patched up, but he would know what had happened, and he would always be able to see the mistake even under layers of paint.

"I've been drawing as far back as I can remember," Sai admitted slightly. He made a few more strokes and reloaded his brush with paint before he spoke again. "Painting, though... I just started that when I started school this year. I haven't done many since they're so time-consuming." Like this one was being. Time-consuming and annoying.
