Sewing Machine Advice?

Jan 10, 2009 02:07

Finally getting a new sewing machine (mine is older than I am, and has issues). Anyone have advice on what machine to get? (Model number, brand, whether it's good or bad, etc.)

I really like my Janome (525S) - virtually (but not completely) jam free, and tough enough for heavy stuff. (Janome is the same company as Elna btw.) Though when I was shopping around, my favorite was a Husquvarna(?) Viking, I think 419 was the number, but not better enough for me to justify the $100 more ( ... )

What is this about hating your outfit? You look amazing as Soul!

As for sewing machines, that one I loaned to you is AMAZING. It sews the thick stuff like nobody's business and so far I haven't had problems with it. I know that if you go to Joanne you can ask the ppl there about different kinds of machines.

BTW, when's spring break? I forgot to get the sewing machine back from you...:( I need it for my spring break (march 9-15).

aw thanks...the pants were wrong. I might have a replacement now! And...the wig was horrible and evil. Really mad at cosworx right now cuz it is bad quality hair, super thin, and not fun to work with. Jacket doesn't fit right and isn't done, so...yeah. lol /rant

Oh yeah, I totally want to do purikura with you and Julia as Death the Kidd. :P

I love your mom's sewing machine, it doesn't crap out on me! *_* (had an issue that took me an hour to fix, but that was my fault) Does it sew through 2+ layers of pleather decently?

Sorry about that! I forgot to call you after ALA cuz I crashed. D: My break is after yours (week of the 23rd I believe). Maybe I can drop it off at your house this week?

Sounds fine. Just let me know so that I can make sure someone will be home at that time. :D

And it works with pleather beautifully! I used a heavy duty needle and upholstry thread to sew Suki's armor together...haven't tested more than two layers tho.
