Omg the badassery. I really like her face and lips. And hands, and ooooh, the ears.

Something about the rough lines with the smooth shading seems a little... style clashing? I dunno. I think it could benefit from a little texture to match the lines. Like... the background gradient is so smooth that on my screen I can actually see (around her feet) the edges where one shade becomes a darker shade. I think something subtle (like a grainy or scratchy texture set to soft light or something) to break that up would be nice.

Yeah, I often feel bothered by the sterile smoothness of CG coloring. I've never been able to decide what to do about it, though. I feel funny about pasting in textures over top, but I suppose I should try it before I give up on it. What I REALLY want is to have a loser, choppier coloring style, but I can't make that WORK.

Well, you could use brushes. I don't mean like tree-leaves brushes, but just something that's scratchier? Hard-edged instead of soft-edged? Like, I always, ALWAYS use a hardedged brush, even when I want relatively smooth gradients, like in this for example. I really like being able to see the brush-strokes.

Btw, my tumblr is 'harbek' and my art-only tumblr is harbekart.

I... honestly don't even know what you mean. Like, those weird splotchy ones, faux art and whatever? To color with? Or afterwards over top? I guess I could see that maybe, on a really low opacity or something.

Take a wild guess what my tumblr account name is? You'd never guess, I'm so inscrutable.
