Snarfed from 1freespirit. I did it while back. It's fun, so why not again...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

If I count code:

I'm at home so, nearest book to the PC: Age of Empires Unauthorized game secrets.

"Architecture increases the Guard Tower's Hit Points by 20 percent and decreases its construction time by one-third ."

(and yes, oddly enough, there is a space before the period.)

"Now we have allocated registers and written the code to perform the operations of the procedure"
(from "Computer Organization and Design: The Hardware/Software Interface")

the next-closest book:
"For example, the basic components of entities and relationships and their representation should now be familiar fare."
(from "Database Systems: Design, Implementation, & Management" Sixth Edition)

My sentiments exactly! (I forgot to log in when I posted it)

Though, I must admit, the first book is a textbook for a class I'm taking this semester... not that it isn't going on my reference shelf when I'm done with the semester

The second one was from a previous class, but it was exceedingly useful for a private project I've been working on.

Now if only I could convince the university I attend that I don't need the non-technical classes to earn a BS in Comp-Sci...

I thought most of the non-technical classes were rather boring in college. I began to enjoy those subjects much more after college, reading and studying them on my own.

I won't post this in my journal but here's the quote: "But how are we to understand the word hate?" Clive Lewis, The Four Loves
