What do the words "critical thinking" mean to you?

Careful analysis of positive and negative attributes of a certain object/event/person/etc., how it/they interacts with us or others and wether or not it' good or bad as a whole. Also the applications of an object/event/person/etc. in one's own life.

Or just plain scrutiny.

I'll give you my bluejeans definition.

Critical thinking, to me, means to think for one's self, to actually examine a topic or a belief or subject from all angles and arrive at a conclusion that is based on your own personal observations, even if it means going against conventional thinking and wisdom. And if that means you disagree with the rest of the world, Galileo did, too.

No, not really. I guess having think about something in a sort of analytical way. Going into its meaning, figuring it out...deep thought.

Being able to take the given information and come to a logical conclusion on your own.

Skepticism and questioning. Not taking things at face value. Doing research. Analyzing deeply. Suspending one's own prejudices. Bringing outside information to bear on current situations.
