Amen to Art Ensemble (looking fwd to Nov release by their guest Moor Mother) and Ezra Collective, been meaning to check James Carter and several other Yays. Distressed to see new Hot Club among nays, especially because I just ordered it, before I saw this.

I like the Rachid Taha too, been wondering about Santana's Africa Speaks, with the North African(?) diva (whose style some have associated with flamenco).

I second most of your yays, although am surprised to not like the Miranda more - well I do like most of it, track by track, but the meh ones somehow seem like bigger potholes than they should? I mean I didn't like "Tin Man" etc., but those didn't interfere w overall momentum of their surrounding albums. Then again have only listened to Wildcard once, though previously that's all she needed. Oh well will try again, also looking fwd to Kalie Shorr next up tonight.
What did you not like about Sheryl Crow, Lillie Mae? Would have thought those were right up yr alley.

Hey Don - Biggest Miranda potholes for me have been "Settling Down" (which a couple people tell me I'm underrating - may need to force-feed it more), "Holy Water," "Locomotive" (token generic obligatory loud train metaphor going nowhere), especially "How Dare You Love" (which nobody I've talked to likes) and maybe "Fire Escape ( ... )
