重慶森林,Chungking Express Pic Spam [part 1 of errrr several] is here. This is 故事第二, Story #2, but I'm not sure how many parts there will be because I went a bit cap-happy. So this part of the story ends on a cliff hanger :P ( All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey .... )

movies, pic spam, takeshi kaneshiro, tony leung, faye wong, chungking express

At this rate it's seriously going to take me forever to finish capping the movie. It's quite a short movie but I'm taking ages :D I really wanted to have some nice images from the movie because when I've tried looking around, I just see the same images over and over and a lot of them are tiny in size. Perhaps it's because ITMFL and 2046 are more visually spectacular there are more caps available for them but CK Express has lots of wonderful facial expressions. I can't wait to see your icons. There can never be enough CK Express icons in the world :) firefly1984 pointed me to some nice ones the other day but the colours weren't quite bright enough for me, alas.

Nooooo! Oh you evil Koala, leaving me hanging like this. Are you sure your job isn't as one of the super-secret plot developers of Lost, or something? I borrowed Fallen Angels recently from the Library and was thinking about watching it before Chunking Express. Is that advisable? I've heard that it's really an off-shoot of the latter, so I'm wondering if there will be parts in there that ruin/spoil Chunking Express? Not that I'm already spoiling myself by lathering in these gorgeous picspams, but then Wong Kar Wai films don't lose anything even when you know what's going to happen, they're just this gorgeous cinematic 'journey' where the atmosphere is what draws you in the most, rather than kerazy plot twists!

Also, Faye Wong is absolutely beautiful like that. One of the few women who look genuinely gorgeous with hair that short. It's very A.Hepburn.

*laugh* it wasn't a deliberate cliff hanger, it's just because I realised that I'm going to have post the pics in batches otherwise there will be too many :D It's such a gorgeous movie and to be honest, you're absolutely right. WKW movies aren't really about plot so much as interactions, relationships, feeling and look. The stories are lovely, but there's a lot more in there as well and I don't think spoilers are as serious for his movies as for others. I deliberately didn't watch Fallen Angels because to be honest, I like his happier movies. I heard that FA is really depressing, bleak and gritty and CK Express is so light, exubertant and lovable that I didn't want to bring myself down. I'm pretty certain firefly1984 (being the WKW expert) has seen it so I'm sure he will be able to advise you when he visits this post :D

Hi, Fallen Angels was originally going to form part of a third section in Chungking Express so it can be considered as a sequel of sorts. However, it's totally different in tone to Chungking Express and whilst there are numerous references carried on they're only loosely connected so there wouldn't be anything particularly spoilery about watching Fallen Angels first. That said, I'd still probably recommend watching it after you've seen Chungking Express.

To be honest, I've decided I most love the 'happy' Wong Kar Wai storylines which leaves me with very little :D I enjoyed ITMFL, but I loved story 2 of CK Express because of its hopefulness. On 2046, I loved the Faye/Tak storyline mostly because of Faye and Kimura but also because it's a happy ending! :D I'm such a sap. So I've been too scared to watch Fallen Angels - there are still quite a few WKW movies I haven't watched yet. *gasp* Then again, I'm not actually a film buff/expert, I'm just a hobby watcher :D

Oh I didn't know that!!! Thank you so much for sharing that, it makes me so happy that this little, low budget and quirky movie about nothing managed to make such a big impression. *is gleeful* I hope you can see the movie soon and that you enjoy it. I'm not sure why I love it so much - I suppose it's just so joyful and oddball that I can't help celebrating in its oddballiness :D
