I have a problem with Engine... and that is that first time I watched it was without subtitles so I couldn't get a hold on what was really going on. Later on I got the subtitles but I haven't watched it all with them.
However I do agree that Takuya and Koyuki have 0 chemistry and I couldn't actually believe they were supposed to be in love as the series went on.
About Takuya's clothes I also agree... they tried so hard to make him look cool and fashionable (when he already is all that anyway, even with a garbage bag on!) that it didn't work. I really prefer his looks in Good Luck!!! I think that is where he looks the best with his clothes!
I agree that Takuya and Koyuki have zero chemistry. Engine doesn't count as a favorite; but i did find the kids adorable and the "childish" behavior of Takuya here.
I agree with you 100% - Engine is my least favourite KT drama and it lacks a lot of things (esp. in the romantic department). It seems the scriptwriters ran out of time or something and just wanted to finish the script. Really sad and a wasted opportunity.
It could have been so much more - the kids were adorable. I guess I am just not interested in racing and that's a problem for the storyline for me. And the romance was just a splat :P
Oh goodness this entry is so good I am putting it in Memory :) I have only watched about 3 episodes of Engine and I haven't picked up on it again mostly 'cause I felt much the same as you have written.
It lacks the chemistry and never grabbed me as much as Kimura's other dramas. I think I'll still finish watching it, though :)
