Remember last year I posted a pic spam about Terminator Salvation in which, in my usual manner I extolled the virtues of the Marcus character while bagging out the John Connor character even though I usually like Christian Bale? I couldn't help it, poor John Connor was just such a blah character in that movie and outshone by Marcus

It's so funny how some people get all weird on the Internet, or get specifically weird over one fandom. And for one person to show up like that two years apart? Wow!

There is some cultural consideration there as (IIRC of the first 2 eps) he's also the only non-white male on the show, and likely now the sole black person, and the non-white women appear to be dead or evil (and non-white men non-evil aliens, and...shutting up). But their comment doesn't seem to be approaching it from that perspective.

You also seemed to be harder on the journalist, at that.

That makes me annoyed, Koala. Now we've got that person in the discussion thread and another user called rpowell asking if everyone has dismissed Ryan already. If they turn this into a race issue, I will get even more annoyed. *All* the resistance members are stupid one way or another (like you said) and I think that's pretty much been the universal reaction on all the forums we've seen.

That person needs to get some damn manners. And fast.

Yes, she's very rude and the dissing of Ryan has nothing to with his race. He's just frequently stupid - albeit well-meaning. I still think it was atrocious that he didn't tell Val the truth earlier - I get that he was scared of losing her, but I think she was entitled to know about the nature of what was happening to her own body and to make decisions on the basis of that. He risked her life back then by not telling her. For instance, if she'd known about things earlier - she probably wouldn't have met the fate that she has. See how I try to discuss this without giving away too many spoilers :D

As to other rude people, I couldn't believe rpowell's response to this post. Actually I believe it, it reminds me of when I first started shipping Apollo/Sharon and how much grief I got about that :P It's funny, I really thought that these days, non-canon ships and crackpot ships were all the rage :D

That rpowell person was also pretty rude here as well. People have been squeeing about Joshua since he first showed up.

I remember the grief you got about Apollo/Sharon! That was a good pairing (I shipped it!), but people were so unaccepting (who knows why? it's not as though it even damaged their ships). I'm glad you replied to that rpowell person on that picspam. She has no right to be ruining someone else's fannish squee (I'm working on a Joshua/Lisa picspam and she can stay off THAT).

Good grief! I'd say you have a rude stalker-lol. It amazes me how it's YOUR spam/journal and you choose to say what you will-and get slammed for it by the sum total of one. And she's a repeat moron to boot! I've been doing goofy/snarky spams for over 3 years and have been asked the gamut of stupid questions. But wow-she really feels the need to share her stupidity with you. Just wow. No matter-your friends like you-here in your lj and anywhere else. :) And I've always enjoyed your spams-especially for the snark!
