Livejournal servers might be moving to Russia but I'm staying put ... I have a dreamwidth account but I use that for my foster dog blog ... and I really can't be stuffed migrating.  Livejournal is already a wasteland.  I get why people want to move on principle but my blog is fannish... there's really nothing political or worrisome in there that ( Read more... )

Someone removes me as a friend on livejournal ...

Which is odd because I really didn't think there were that many people still hanging around livejournal anymore ...

I had already gone and pruned my LJ a lot because so many people are gone but there must still be some around because a bunch of people have removed me because I post too much about Homeland.  Oops :D ( Read more... )

You can set up an account for free at livejournal here https://www.livejournal.com/create.bml  You don't have to have any comment at your journal.  I suspect most people don't have content these days and just set up accounts for commenting/browsing.

What can be done to keep sites like livejournal alive?

I've watched websites give way for blogs and now blogs are replaced by micro-blogs and I can tell you that the chat/review/discussion interface on microblogs like twitter and tumblr does not in any way compare to the discussions that one can have on livejournal.

Not that I want to jinx it, but it's nice to have LJ fast and responsive again. I have no intention of going to another blogging platform (can't be stuffed - have too much stuff here) but I just don't want LJ to do a World's Greatest Journal on me and delete everything without warning! I lost fan fic and pic spam posts during that deletion :'(
