Over 10,000 dead and the death toll is rising here in China. We have quite a lot of people from Sichuan and Chongqing in our office but fortunately all their families are safe. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Wenchuan County, Sichuan. I found out this morning that the Wolong Panda Reserve is located in the epicentre of the earthquake. ( Read more... )

My parents just found out; they've been keeping real close to the television.

Argh, things like this are heartbreaking. I don't even know what to say..."I hope everyone is fine" would be the generic phrase but with 10K dead, I think it's a tad unfit. >_>

The troops WALKED 100k? Wow. That's amazing. This is such an awful tragedy.

I meant to thank you before for the links. I was getting lots of questions about where and how to donate and your links were very helpful!

You're very welcome. I snagged those links from CNN.com. I haven't seen much about donating in the US media. I suspect that is because China has not asked for international assistance (at least, last I heard). They seem to be responding to this very well considering the circumstances.

This is horrible. Damn, what is it with this month and natural disasters? At least China's being more sensible about bringing/accepting help than the junta in Burma.

I'm glad that you are okay *hugs*
I'm all stressed though because I don't know if our key business partners are okay, and I won't have a way of knowing until Thursday at the earliest.

Thanks for the well-wishes. It's really been a very, very horrible week here and I've just been overwhelmed by the images/news about death, sorrow, destruction and pain. It's very upsetting and I have been feeling so helpless/useless.
