On names and silly nostalgia :)

The recent discussion of the book VIETNAM, the cookbook/memories ' Secrets of the Red Lantern' and listening to Trinh Cong Son again made me feel vaguely nostalgic. :)

I've mentioned before that in the same building as our office, the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group, a has an office. Its global headquarters are in Copenhagen, Denmark. I did a revised ( Read more... )

It is an amazing story ! You have such a wonderful history to your name! And I understand now better why you are who your are - your father is an incredibly strong person to get through all of this.

Thank you so much! This is actually a part of history I knew nothing about..

Wow! I had no idea of any of this, much less that you'd been involved. It's absolutely fascinating and amazing, and I feel such respect for and awe of your father for what he accomplished. This was absolutely not boring.

Clara has always been one of my favorite names. I had a tad too many Bewitched moments as a child. ;-)

When I read something like this concerning the life of someone I know, however brief, I can't help but think from the perspective of a parent. If Papa Koala ever had any doubt regarding his life-altering decision, I think looking into your eyes, watching you grow and thrive, would wipe any and all doubt away.

Make certain if or when Baby Koala arrives in the future, he or she knows these things. Papa Koala's decision and the Clara Maersk should never be regarded as just a mere footnote in history.

Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us.

Huh. Perhaps you mentioned it before and I simply missed it, or you talked about it when we weren't 'friends' yet... I knew that your family came to Australia from Vietman but I had no idea as to the circumstances. This is huge! :) It's an amazing story, and yes, Papa Koala is my hero now :)
Thanks so much for this post (and for giving me pointers to brush up on modern history :))
