I take it that I'm not the only one who doesn't have clear memories of the past two days, then.

You're right. No one seems to know exactly what happened for those two days. I certainly don't.

Whatever it is, I'm sure the scientists had something to do with it.

Is that the prevailing explanation for whenever anything goes wrong here?

Unfortunately, that seems to case. But, to be completely honest, I've never actually seen a scientist in person that I can remember. To most of us, I imagine the scientists are some abstract group of people we can throw all the blame to.

I'm not sure if everything is "their" fault, but it does seem like many things could be traced back to "them." At the very least, the arrival of everyone in this city is probably their fault.

Of course; I had already assumed that to be the case. Still, you have to wonder how many people use the scientists as cover for their own unsavory deeds.

I can't believe we all stayed asleep.

It is rather surprising, isn't it?

Annoying more like it.

Is there any particular reason, Suzumiya-san?

The unusual thing is that even the unchipped were affected, suggesting our hosts have other means of influencing us.

knowthatiknow November 20 2009, 01:04:23 UTC
That's unsettling. Do you have any idea what that other means would be?

Most of what comes to mind is rather unsettling. Perhaps the supplies that constantly arrive are drugged?

And since there's hardly anything here to get by on, we have no choice but to use them. A clever theory.

I wonder what their purpose would be for that.

It's unfortunate that they don't show their faces; I'd rather like to speak with them.

Considering what I have heard of these 'scientists' and their presence, or lack thereof, it's tempting to wonder whether they exist at all. However, I have heard that they showed up in person once or twice.

I had initially thought the same thing until I spoke to one of them.

How did you verify their identity?

...The frequency was unusual, so I asked.
