This sounds like what the Rift did to you. It does something to everyone, like I met someone who had headphones that played music without them being like hooked up to anything. Neat, huh?
The point is that, just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get!
I've been told that it's likely something the rift did to me. I'm not sure if that's comforting or not, but yes. I'm in my room and I think it might be good to try. Yes?
I have noticed that I experience a similar phenomenon myself, although it comes with the added side effects of understanding spoken language and occasionally breaking out into tongues. However, when I am experiencing this effect, the writing or speech does not appear to as English to me (for one thing, English is not my native language, so that would make little sense), but rather I appear to gain temporary fluency in that language so I can understand the message as written. This appears to be the effect the Rift had upon me, and I would suspect the same goes for you as well.
Sincerely,
Mio Hongo 本郷 未緒

Thank you so much for responding to my entry! I'm quite relieved to know I'm not the only one with an ability such as this. It sounds like yours is much more complex, certainly. I think it's rather remarkable that you gain the actual fluency. That's intriguing.
Upon reading this, actually, I think I do a bit of a disservice to say that I read all languages, as it's more of a translation I'm achieving as opposed to a comprehension of the language, itself. Of course, that's all to be sorted later, I'm sure. I'll need to do quite a bit more testing, I should think.
I must assume that this is a Rift-effect, yes, as magic has not lifted the ability from me.
Thank you again. I'm so pleased you replied! I hope to speak to you again soon, Mio Hongo.
You are quite welcome. The rules governing my ability do appear to be very complex, and I am still figuring them out. It appears, at least in some part, to be based upon the language skills of other people, since I am only able to speak languages with other people, and not on my own. I am trying to find out what mechanism causes it, but I have not managed to gather enough information to come up with any more coherent theories as of yet.
Do you know if your ability works with speech as well, or only text? Mine appears to work with both, for example, although I've found it to be quite erratic when it comes to my speech abilities.
It does sound very complex, indeed. An empathic sort of language connection, perhaps? If you ever require someone to help with the figuring or to do research with, I offer my assistance.
I'm sure I haven't done nearly enough testing yet, but as far as I can tell, my ability is limited to text.
Again, please feel free to contact me should you require assistance or a sounding board.
That's probably... well, the Rift, when you come through it, it changes things about you. Like, I'm telekinetic now. Never used to be. And my mum can heal people by touching them, and Des (he's mum's husband) walks through doors and music plays. It's kinda weird, but really funny.
Also, I probably just missed you - I'm at the library a lot, when school's in (my best friend's from here, so she has to go). Maybe I'll see you there sometime?
Telekinesis must be a remarkably interesting ability to work with! The doorway/music-gift sounds rather intriguing, as well. I must admit, however, that healing...that's just brilliant! I'm rather in awe, actually.
I am so sorry we missed on another at the library. It would be lovely to see you there someday and introduce myself properly, yes. I'll look forward to it! (Certainly, it shall happen, as I plan on being at the library quite frequently.)
I really must say thank you so much for responding to this. I'm feeling much better now, and I'm certainly very relieved to discover that I'm not simply going mad. I truly appreciate your response, and I do hope to meet you very soon.

Oh, I see. The headphones do sound quite intriguing, yes.
Well. It certainly is a useful surprise. :) I appreciate your prompt response. I was very concerned.

We could try it, of course.
Are you in your room? I'll come over, and we can do it now.
I really hope no
There's absolutely nothing wrong with your brain.

Yes. I think that would be best.

All right. If you say so, I believe you.
