Last night I checked GoogleMaps for directions from my hostel to Pearl Harbor. It got confused and gave me directions to Pearl City. MI. These included 'Kayak across the Pacific Ocean entering in Washington, 2756 miles.'

Yup. I was trying to figure out if it were close enough to walk to it from the hostel. Not at all. About 15 miles. I'm on the bus heading to it right now.

According to Google, 15 days, 16 hours (with a 2 minute traffic delay) to go the full 5016 miles.

I'm just amused they actually chose kayaking as opposed to swimming or a powerboat. I wonder if they'll ever start including airlines in the mix.

That's very amusing.

Then again, it bugged me when googlemaps told me that the closet movie theater to Woods Hole was on Martha's Vineyard. 'Cause it would take like 90 mins to get there rather than 20 mins to drive to Mashpee, despite MV being several miles closer.

Is that because of traffic or because MV is closer only as the crow flies? (Don't know my East Coast geography at all.)
