and may i say that those poinsettias are smashing? they remind me of the wool hat i'm making -- a pile of yarn because i haven't started and the &%ç*ing cats got to it.
D-RO Design is Donna Rapa-Olsen, who was in the Christmas show I did last year and designed the bucket bag I was carrying around for a whole.
And I'm screening your comment, bebe. Mom doesn't know what I'm making her yet, so it was on purpose that I photoed a couple things so they would be unidentifiable. *mwah*
How is the lizard ridge pattern? I fell in love with it looking at the picture but I've never knit an afghan (only crocheted) so I'm leery of it. I was going to try the pattern in a scarf width just to get a feel for it, and decide if I wanted to do more.
I love it. It's addictive in the Noro because it's so cool to watch all the colors stripe together. After a couple repetitions of the pattern, I don't even need to look at the paper any more. (That's only come back to bite me in the ass once...but nothing I couldn't fix by ripping out.)
Early this year I made a Lizard Ridge pillow adaptation, if you want to give it a shot without devoting the time and money to a scarf. The original pattern calls for 24 different blocks, but I'm making them in four strips. The blocks may be less intimidating, too.
I am currently working on an enelrac scarf to teach myself how to do that, so I like the idea of trying larger patterns in scarf or pillow form. And the stripes are mesmerizing to look at which is why I'm tempted. I may have to try the pillow adaption.
I'm not on Ravelry yet, are the invitations still backed up a lot? Honestly when it first became a big deal around on my flist I didn't have the spoons to deal with the idea but I should go check it out again now.
Somehow I've suddenly become a huge fan of Noro. So having said that I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't point you towards the Lady Eleanor shawl from Scarf Style. It takes something like 12 or 14 balls of Silk Garden, and the sample we have up in the store doesn't repeat a single colorway within the work. Simply gorgeous. If you end up liking entrelac, I highly recommend this project. [/salesgirl]
Ravelry is a ton of fun. I get the impression that they're plowing through the wait list for invites more quickly than they were when I joined (in September). It's worth the wait for sure.
