His phone ringing insistently woke Stephen, forcing him to move his aching body if he wanted any peace. Not that he had any idea who’d be calling him, he’d burnt his bridges at the ARC and… while, burnt his non-ARC friendships long before that.
He groaned, what the hell did Lester want now? He’s nothing more to give - he’d quit, signed every document demanded and limped away with nothing to his name.
Fuck, it looked like Lester wanted him gone - all his appointments had been expedited, even his final wages paid a month early. Oh… and a reference on request.
