It had been a hard and dangerous journey back to London and, as he stared at the deserted city, Stephen wondered if his presence would have made any difference to the outcome. He sighed, knowing it wouldn’t have. Humanity would still have fallen to the Future Predators, too wedded to modern technology and divorced from any skill necessary for survival.
Although Stephen knew he should leave before he was detected, he couldn’t turn his back and walk away. He had to know if anyone at the ARC had survived the Fall. He couldn’t abandon them, they’d been his friends, once.
