A fracas outside distracted James, his frown deepening while Helen explained.
“It's the new shipment of supplies. The guards take and feast on the best while the prisoners are left to fight over what little remains.” Her attention settled on Lyle, “It's a pity you resisted detainment, Lyle. I'm sure they would have picked a thug like you as a guard. Then you could have indulged yourself on food, drink and... well,” She smirked meaningfully at James, “Other things.”
“Helen!” James restrained Lyle just in time. “Now would be excellent timing to explain your plan.”
“All in good time, James.”
