A/N: For the P100 challenge 316: Black And Blue. Follows on from An Arrangement and part 5 of my Strange Bedfellows drabble series and I really need to think of a name for this apparently new series of mine *g* Thanks go to nietie for the name of the series, cheers m'dear.
Lyle surged to his feet before his face paled. He staggered and would have fallen except for James' arms around him.
“Sit down, you idiot,” James snapped at Lyle before helping him back to the bed. He opened Lyle's shirt to reveal the mottled skin hidden beneath and gently probed the area, ignoring Lyle's winces of pain.
Helen hissed between her teeth. “You resisted arrest?”
“They attacked James...” Lyle trailed off, glaring at her.
Helen smirked. “Chivalrous of you, Lyle, defending your... James' virtue.”
James squeezed Lyle's shoulder. “Do you actually have a plan, Helen? Otherwise, this deal is off.”
