[It's Cornelia. He realises this with an abject, detached sort of resignation. Cornelia is here, and he's not sure how surprised he is. Cornelia is here, and the screen is slicked red with blood, her blood.]

[Her blood, which means she is wounded, which means there are a handful of times, of places - where, sister, when - that run, crimson stained, through his mind as he starts to think, already moving. But he already suspects, already knows, and the way it hits him, this realization, is quite sickening -

She has seen more than I have.]

[And he thinks he knows exactly what has taken place.

He could laugh, were he not feeling empty and sick to the heart at once.

That he might be the last person she wants to see does not matter. She is his sister, his sister and he is going to her side, because she is not going to die.

It's as simple as that really, his reasoning, but now he speaks up.

He raises his voice a little, to catch attention.]

[ This could however prove useful, especially since Nunnally wasn't under Schneizel's control. Cornelia's soft spot for Euphemia was far too well known for him not to take advantage of, since Euphie and Nunnally had been a lot alike. ]

That particular shade of crimson is all too familiar to the Turk, so much so that she can smell the stench of rusted copper in her nose as strongly as though she were standing near the source simply for the sight of it. It appeals to the mind, forces her to the crossroad where instinct and strict training met, and melds the paths into a single path that leads to the Temple because

[Another voice. Only, this time is isn't familiar. She glances down at the communicator, half expecting to see a face, but the feed only seems to be audio. Weakly, she brings it closer to her lips so that she can be heard.]

I do not recall asking for help. [A beat, and then suspiciously.] Who is this?

[ Valeria doesn't pause before issuing her response. She calculated her words in advance to evoke a reaction, to keep this woman talking. It might not help with future relations, but there could be none if she was dead in the first place, so she keeps her tone calm, level. That this woman should be so demanding in such a state was... well, it would earn a smile later, at any rate. ]

It's usually considered polite to introduce yourself first, you know.

[ She pauses now, albeit briefly. ]

I'm not an enemy, if that's what you're thinking. With wounds like those, you don't need to ask for help.

[Audio]

[If she could only see the face behind the voice she might not feel so defenseless. It is quickly becoming very obvious that this is not a dream, but something far worse. Her jaw tightens because the voice is correct. If she continues to bleed freely like this, she will be dead before the night is through. A ripping sound can be heard as she starts pulling shreds of her clothing away in an effort to begin binding the wounds.

Indeed, speaking has helped her remain conscious. And to gain her awareness. For that, she is thankful. But the last mistake she intends to make is to trust an anonymous person from a device that isn't her own in a place she doesn't recognize.]

I could say the same to you. Your name. [She isn't asking. She is more or less demanding.]

I fail to see the point in stating the obvious.

[ok, so. gunshot wounds and bleeding to death are kind of a certain trauma for junpei. he's eloquent about it as ever.]

[And her response is just as impatient as ever.]
