This is actually a pretty interesting piece--I'm a sucker for misty settings and a sense of enigma (although it was pretty easy to deduce what was happening and who was who). Dreaminess, when used correctly, can sweeten a scene :D
What inspired you to write this? What is the background behind the world of "limbo" and why was Yuuri trapped there? Was it really all because of the "marriage" issue? Was Wolfram ruling in Yuuri's place? Why didn't anyone remember anything (at least, consciously)? Normalcy reestablished itself at the very end, making the first four-fifths of the story somewhat disorienting ^^;
What inspired you to write this? The prompt masquerade, of course, made me think of balls. And I've read a lot of fanfics where there was a ball and Yuuri always never wants to dance with Wolfram. I really want to see Yuuri want to dance with Wolf but not recognize him until after he asked (only knowing it's Wolfram by his scent) and I pictured him being relieved that it was Wolfram and not another girl. So I thought then Wolfram has to be in costume = masks >> masquerade >> perfect for the prompt. Then I thought, well, why is Wolfram wearing a mask (and a dress because we all know Yuuri wouldn't knowingly ask a boy). Well, Yuuri isn't at Shin Makoku... he got kidnapped/abducted and being Yuuri, he'd rather 'talk' to the enemies so he's fairly pliant on what they ask him. And then I threw in that the enemy kingdom wanted him to marry one of their nobles or princesses so they'd have a built-in alliance with Shin Makoku. Of course, Yuuri does not choose any because he knows Conrad and the

Hmmm...I love the idea.(In fact, I adore fairy and folk tales; I once read the entire "Fairy" series at my local library (each book was several inches thick, with microscopic text, and was named after a specific colour--"Red Fairy," "Blue Fairy," "Black Fairy," etc.) And it was probably a good thing to divert from the whole "let's-save-Yuuri-from-whoever-the-hell-has-kidnapped-him-now" plot device, because it's been sucked dry. Multiple times. (Including the "enemy"'s desire for Yuuri's power

It's an ambitious endeavour, and I'm not sure exactly what I'm trying to say here, but maybe the best way to go about it is to somehow get the reader to understand the beginning, fall into the magic in the middle, and realize that he or she has been bewitched in the end. Does that make any sense

I have to say while I love this piece and the atmosphere which was created, I was not familiar with The Twelve Dancing Princes and perhaps that made it a bit more confusing?
The explanation you gave, as to how this story came about and other questions, made the whole story very clear though.
Thanks. Oh and I saw your reply about the picture, no worries. Christmas season is always a hectic time. I'm glad you like this enough to draw one. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. And I've put that mpreg story on my to do list, though it's currently third or fourth on the list.
