The weatherguy on one channel here in Perth often has a cat or dog with him (sometimes a sheep or a horse!), but that's because he often does the report from the RSPCA and shows a few of the animals to be adopted. The maps are just shown on the screen while he talks in the background.
Either Lupin knows Joerg, or the fellow's a really intuitive cat-person. He automatically knew the right way to hold him so he'd relax and refrain from squirming.
And the way he kept trying to give him kitty-kisses! XD
It says that the cat belongs to a person that works in the studio, so it seems he knows Lupin. Perhaps the cat has been around before. But kudos to him. He even starts scritching toward the end!
