Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I think I resolved to lose weight this year, and I did. This year, I guess I will attempt to keep it off.

Did anyone close to you give birth?

So many babies. Alyson, Sandi, Scott Z, my cousin Nicole had her third, and a bunch of other people are pregnant.

did anyone close to you die?

No one close to me thankfully.

what countries did you visit?

No new countries this year, but I visited New York and Pittsburgh for the first time.

what would you like to have in 20010 that you lacked in 2009?

How about a circle of friends in the city I live in. This is what I wrote last year, I didn't manage to make it happen this year, but I feel it getting close.

What date from 2009 will remain etched on your memory, and why?

Mid February was when we finally started family therapy and I started eating healthy.
May 3rd, we celebrated 10 years together.

what was your biggest achievement of the year?

I lost 45 lbs, and maintained a 4.0 GPA.

what was your biggest failure?

I don't know. When I filled this out before, I had written something here, but I lost the entry, and I can't remember what it was. I had a pretty good year, no fails!!

Did you suffer illness or injury?

No! Thankfully. Though I had a few scares.

What was the best thing you bought?

A plane ticket to Denver and then New York.

Whose behavior merited celebration?

My parents came through in big ways for myself and my brothers and sister.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Pheran's. He's doing all he can to fail out of High School with laziness. It sucks.

Where did most of your money go?

Most of it went to paying off bills. We are paying off some hefty taxes from last year when Justin was contracting, and paying off the car. Other than that, I bet we spent the most on travelling.

what did you get really, really, really excited about?

Visiting New York, visiting Anna and her family, and the arrival of our darling Hazel Kalo Morgan, who has been a long time coming, and little miss Mikayla. Also, I was pretty stoked on my Halloween costume this year, which is funny because now I can't stand to look at it.

What song will always remind you of 2009?

I don't know. "Fatalist Palmistry" by Why?, or Pokerface, maybe?
Even "Mr Blue Sky" might remind me of this year.

compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Happier
thinner or fatter? Thinner
richer or poorer? Not quite as rich

what do you wish you'd done more of?

Hanging out with friends. I have a feeling this year will involve more of that, since Tanya and Kim just moved back to San Diego and they tend to bring me out of my reclusive ways.

what do you wish you'd done less of?

Hollering at Pheran. Yeah. He's impossible.

how will you be spending Christmas?

Justin and I woke up at 6am and opened presents without Pheran, because we had a deal with him and he did not meet the criteria, so he can't open his presents until he does. But it was still a nice Xmas, spent lounging in jammies.

did you fall in love in 2009?

In a way, I guess, I fell in love with life again. (Shut up)

what was your favorite TV program?

I loved 30 Rock this year, so hard. Also, Dexter, WTF!!! OMG!!!! Shit!!!!!
And the new Dr Who series.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Nope, no hating.

what was the best book you read?

I loved my Art History textbook. I ate it up with enthusiasm.

what was your greatest musical discovery?

Discovered or started listening to, Adventure, Beirut, MGMT, Beto Villa, Murs, Tatsuya Yoshida, TV on the radio, and Why?

what did you want and get?

I am beginning my foray into resin artistry, and Justin was kind enough to provide the materials for this as Xmas gifts. I also wanted to spend some time with my besties, which I did last summer, and my soul is ten times better for it.

what did you want and not get?

For Pheran to go visit his Mom for Xmas and get some time off from parenting.

what was your favorite film of this year?

Hrm, well, the Star Trek movie was good, and I loved Zombieland, but District 9 was also good, and there are a few I have yet to see.

what did you do on your birthday?

I sat around watching Strangers With Candy on Hulu at Tanya's house until the afternoon. Then we headed into the city and had dinner with Corey and Jason at Mars 2112. After that, Tanya went to work, and Corey and Jason took me for a carriage ride in Central Park, and then we headed back to Tanya's place for a sleepover.

what one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Maybe if Pheran wasn't such a drama queen, and would do his homework without a fight.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

well, I started shopping at thrift stores again, so I have something resembling a personal style, but it's still something close to "Casual Clown", just with a little more sexy thrown in.

what kept you sane?

Reconnecting with my fun friend Siobhan. I'm so glad to have her back.

which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

I think I was hot for James Franco for a bit, which was weird, and David Tennant for a minute there, and recently, I discovered Karim Rashid, who is very good looking to me. But mostly, I was totally in love with Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

what political issue stirred you the most?

Probably the healthcare thing.

who did you miss?

I missed everyone at one time or another. But, I think, getting to hang out with Anna for a bit made me miss living near her a lot.

who was the best new person you met?

M Illustration professor, Rob, is awesome. Also, a few of the kids in class, Natalie, and Eddie, were my faves.

tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009

The more you exercise, the more fun it gets.

quote a song lyric that sums up your year

El Caminos in the West
by Grandaddy

So there's my baby
Laughing at me in the sun
Wonder if I'm the weaker one
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

The Pacific will pacify us when we're done
If only we weren't always spun
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

>From El Caminos in the west
All collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness
El Caminos in the west
We're all collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness

Doo doo doo

Here comes the chaos
Perfectly on time again
Is it ever gonna end
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

The demolition still can be a lot of fun
Someone should tell me that I'm done
I feel so far away from home
Always so far away

>From El Caminos in the west
All collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness
El Caminos in the west
We're all collapsed and futureless
I'll paint the words a simple wish
For peace of mind and happiness
