did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I didn't actually make any, as usual. How about this year I resolve to exercise more. I did that this year, I just need to exercise even more than that.

did anyone close to you give birth?

So many babies. OMG. My friends Carrie, Jennifer Cressy had babies in the fall. My friend Zach Schneider and his wife had one just last week, and a few more are pregnant. But I do have a healthy selection of friends who aren't having babies, and let's hear it for them, huh?

did anyone close to you die?

No one close to me thankfully.

what countries did you visit?

Just this one, northern California and Seattle.

what would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?

How about a circle of friends in the city I live in.

What date from 2008 will remain etched on your memory, and why?

July 3rd, my brother's wedding.

what was your biggest achievement of the year?

I went back to school this year, finally, and have managed straight A's, thank you. I also made a pretty sweet wedding gown for my newest sister in Law

what was your biggest failure?

Consistently not keeping my cool with Pheran. I need to learn to walk away and cool off before I start cussing him out.

did you suffer illness or injury?

No! Thankfully.

what was the best thing you bought?

The Wii and all it's accessories and games and junk.

whose behavior merited celebration?

Justin's. For putting up with his job and their inability to respect his time off.

whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

Justin's boss and this other guy he works with. Appalling and annoying and depressing.

where did most of your money go?

mostly travel. There was our trip up the coast where we blew lots of dough, and Pheran's holiday trip to New Orleans was not cheap. We also bought a new car...

what did you get really, really, really excited about?

Obama! and The Madonna Inn

what song will always remind you of 2008?

Anything off either the Vampire Weekend album or Gnarls Barkley's The Odd Couple.

compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Happier
thinner or fatter? The same
richer or poorer? Not quite as rich

what do you wish you'd done more of?

Exercising, although I did get more in this year than in more recent ones.

what do you wish you'd done less of?

Hollering at Pheran. Three more years y'all!

how will you be spending Christmas?

We spent xmas at home, Pheran went to his Mom's. Justin and I caved in on the afternoon of Xmas eve and opened all of our presents because we already knew what they were and Pheran wasn't around. It was a prearranged Xmas.

did you fall in love in 2008?

Yes, with America! XD

what was your favorite TV program?

Dexter, Project Runway, Weeds, 30 Rock, I dunno. I watched a lot of TV this year.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Eh, I don't think so. I have been trying to forgive and forget.

what was the best book you read?

Do graphic novels count?

what was your greatest musical discovery?

I really dug that Vampire Weekend album. I started listening to Mindless Self Indulgence this year, and I find them to be totally badass.
Also of note, Cut Chemist's album The Audience's Listening
I finally got all of Leslie Hall's albums early this year and listened to those until I couldn't stand them anymore.
Oh and there was a new Gnarls Barkley album, The Odd Couple, that was really good.

what did you want and get?

To go back to school, the Wii, new laptop, and a brand new car! I am quite spoiled, and I am thankful for that.

what did you want and not get?

To live in a nice town where like minded folks are plentiful.

what was your favorite film of this year?

I really enjoyed The Darjeeling Limited and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but Pineapple Express and Zach and Miri make a porno were also very good.

what did you do on your birthday?

I spent the day playing video games on the Wii. If I recall, it was Super Paper Mario. That night, I went to see Pineapple Express with my sister and her husband. Justin was out of town for Defcon.
Sadly, I did not make it to the Boredoms show at The La Brea Tar Pits. Oh well.

what one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Nothing comes to mind. Awesome!

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?

Is it clean or passably so? Does it match somewhat? Or Casual Clown, still.

Living closer to my family, hanging out with my sister a lot.

which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Seth Rogen and Hayden Christensen, oddly.

what political issue stirred you the most?

Prop 8. I know there are worse things though.

who did you miss?

I got a healthy dose of most of my favorites this year, but I did miss Maureen Hearty. Even though we hung out briefly in May, it just wasn't enough.

who was the best new person you met?

Ooh, I met several great people this year. My art teachers, Kristi and Karin. My classmates, Sandi and Je'Nat, Matt, Fi, Adam and the other Matt.

tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008

You only get older.

quote a song lyric that sums up your year

The circumstances put soul in me
and there aint no holding me
I've got a heart made of gold in me

Can you believe this is where I've been?
and when adversity calls again
I'll deal with it then

I feel better, I can laugh at it now
I feel better
