Just over a month in...

...and I've already managed to make someone at my job dislike me. I have a rule: I do not discuss politics with people. If they wish to discuss politics with me, I will sit there and listen and possibly make a comment or two, but for the most part I keep my thoughts to myself. Most of the times I have violated this rule, I have annoyed someone,

Defuse her straight away by being overwhelmingly nice "Oh, I've been so worried, I've been going over what I said and it must have seemed inappropriate... that wasn't what I intended. My cousin is in the RAF, so I know what it's like. I didn't offend you, did I?"

I think I will do that if it's mentioned again but she might be willing to forgive and forget. The other lady on the switchboard said she'd talk to her about it, so it might be OK. If it gets bad, I'll address it since I enjoy my job and I really don't want this to make it uncomfortable.
