How I Fight Depression

Oct 21, 2008 13:39

Periodically I post this sort of thing here, so I can refer back to it as needed. And maybe it can help others.

In no particular order... )

Since we're something of being psuedo-twins, I'm definitely bookmarking this entry.

Some days I think my life choice is causing depression...

Then I poke myself with a stick ;-)

Sooo many people underestimate the lingering effects of even moderate intoxication. I notice my productivity and mood shift for a day or two after getting a buzz. I started noticing that around age 30 or so... not sure if the effect was more pronounced, or if I just was more aware of it.

This is a really great reminder list for me; I have a lot of the same triggers and flags. Right now the primary trigger for me has been the seasonal shift into fall--does it every year. I let myself swing into carboholism but your post has reminded me that it's a downward spiral. Thanks for the mindfulness list; I should create one of these for myself.

Thanks for posting this. I've never made such a list, but I've started to do many of these same things in the past 7 to 10 days, and feel much better. I also just learned from one of Dr. Andrew Weil's books on wholistic healing that antihistimines can operate as a depressant. And I've been doing heavy Benadril as a sleep aid. So they're out of here, and I'm sleeping just as well.

Now, to dig out of the shambles I've let my living space fall into, between travel and "just not feeling up to it." Perhaps more dancing is in order as well.
