I'm watching Death Race and don't even ask me why. I think possibly I am falling for Jason Statham. I know it is going to be horrible, but I am all for some mindless action movie at the moment. Especially since we watched Sunshine Cleaning last night, and i don't say this lightly, but i really didn't like that movie. I mean I come close to actively

Statham was a model before an actor...so predictable, Pretty Boy Lover.

Love and hope can suck it.

damn that is predictably comical. i had no idea he had been a model, I had assumed he had been some kind of professional fighter before acting.

yeah...pretty sure Guy Ritchie spotted him or met him as a model and cast him in Lock Stock. I think he's about as much of a fighter as Mr. Miyagi.

I looked it up and he was an olympic diver, was spotted by some clothing company looking for athlete-models, modeled for awhile, then that clothing company financed Lock Stock, introduced him to Guy Ritchie, and voila.

He has made a pretty good acting career out of his one thing though.

Would you believe Statham was on Britain's national diving team for over ten years? (Statham in his swim togs, such as they are.)

I got hooked on him in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. And he is definitely watchable in Death Race. Some while back insomnia kicked me out of bed so I wound up downstairs and giggling my way through the last half hour or so of Deathrace 2000. I found myself thinking that a remake could definitely be fun. And just a few days later, I saw my first promo for Statham's version. Fast work, that! (Or not. :) )
