Coming from a homeschool perspective, there is no need to send him to pre-school unless you are planning on sending him to public school in the future. Then some parents I know do a two or three day a week pre-school to help prepare the little ones. As far as socialization and all of the other stuff, sounds like you've got it under control
( ... )
We are planning to send him to school, but maybe not public school. Thinking about Montessori school. I don't think homeschooling is for me unless something happens/doesn't work out with him in school. I am hoping that one year of preschool before school will be enough of a transition.
I thought you might have some running advice for me! I'll have to check it out, as i am trying to use it to lose a few pounds.
As for tv, I think V wasn't canceled, but production was temporarily stopped so they could rewrite some stuff, at least that's what i read. I am still all about a bunch of returning shows, I didn't list them, True Blood, Burn notice, and House included. I never got into Heroes though. I watched half of season one and just didn't get into it..
Montessori is excellent -- Most down here recommend that you start at age 3. The one thing we didn't like about them was the fact that even at 3, they were full day programs and we weren't ready for her to be gone from us for 8 hours a day. Not sure how they work up there.
The C25K is definitely the way to go for learning to run. It gives you some great motivation, music is already there and you go at your own pace (repeating weeks as necessary). Plus the runners community is awesome. As is the C25K community.
I'll have to go back and read about V. I admit that I just skimmed over it since it wasn't something I was completely interested in. Hopefully it's just paused for right now. Other than Glee I can't think of a single new show we are excited about(Community is so/so with us). Of course I don't know what I"m worried about because I still have full seasons of shows sitting on the Tivo that I haven't had time to watch yet! Hell, we still haven't watched the last 5 episodes of the Sopranos!
I always enjoy hearing updates about Indy (and you, duh!) It's amazing how fast he has grown. I'm obviously not a mommy - just yet! - but from the sound of it, I don't think it would hurt him to not go to preschool for another year. He's only 3 right? If so, he's already way ahead of any other preschooler out there! Trust your mommy instincts though. They won't steer you wrong :)
Sounds like Indy is doing fine without preschool. From what he knows now preschool would be a back step for him. That happen with Rylan and going to Half day kindergarten. Montessori is wonderful (I wish I could have sent my kids), but I have heard of hard adjustments to regular school later (lack on Montessori high school).
I went to Montessori until 5th grade and it was a hard transition to middle school, but at the same time, when isn't middle school difficult?
I'm not sure about sending him that long though, maybe just for a few of the early years. He loves to learn, and I am somewhat afraid of putting him right into a sit and listen type classroom setting and having him lose that love.
You could always do two or three mornings a week just to give yourself a little downtime and to introduce the school routine-type setting....see how the gymnastics class goes. Indy would probably think it was fun.
that is a good point. I'll start with the gymnastics and go from there. I also saw a preschool mini summer camp program, I might try that out next summer.
I think running longer is probably the best approach...leg weights or carrying weights would make you stronger...but I'm assuming that the reasons for running is for aerobic fitness...in that case, you want to work up to 20 to 30 minutes...
I had a dream bout being chased by an alligator. It caught my pants leg and I wanted to kick it with my other leg, but I was afraid it would open its mouth and catch my foot if I tried.
I think that is the consensus, to work up to about 30 minutes of running.
I cannot remember any dreams from last night, but the boy woke up this morning crying because he "didn't eat the bread". There is a simplicity to a little person's dreams that I find adorable.
