Apparently if you're expressing your interest in Norse mythology you are the lowest kind of person. "You're only interest in it now so you can find new inspiration for your woobie Loki fic." GOD FORBID PEOPLE EDUCATE THEMSELVES!

I'm from Europe, and I was interested in Norse and Celtic mythology since I was a kid. I'm studying archaeology now, and my love for world mythology is still quite strong. But not just in academic capacity... On the other hand, I've saw some Thor comics way before, but was never that interested in them. Needless to say, I haven't watch the Avengers, because I don't think the film is worthy watching...

What I'm trying to say is "what's all the fuss about"? If you like mythology, comics and/or fan-fiction, who cares what other people think? :)

Exactly. I'm going to assume the people I mentioned are from the US and not from Europe. We get exposed to these things much earlier and quite naturally. I remember the topic even came up in my early years of highschool (I had a mythology class during one semester =) )

TBH I'm not quite interested in old-school comics, but I quite like how the topic of superheroes is handled nowadays, including movies.

I like comic books, but I'm more drawn to the European artists and their works (Hugo Pratt, Manara, Franquin etc), then their American counterparts. I find all that "I'm a superhero and can't help it" approach quite cheesy and repetitive... unless we are talking about Simon Bisley and his Lobo and Sláine, or Gaiman's Sandman *evil grin

But hey, to each his/her own...

I'm familiar with franco-belgian comics because hey, that's where I'm from, especially in Belgium it's everywhere. I read some here and there, but I'm not really a comic person so all I buy is manga xD"
What I find interesting in superheroes comics is the mythology. But here again I would not start a huge collection. The Movies are enough^^;

I'm doing this.. since childhood. When Lady Oscar aired I went to the lexicas of my dad and looked up French Revolution and I was in elementary school back then. xD

lol apparently you're not allowed to like something once it's popular. Many fandoms are like that too "you only like it because it's popular" Err yes it's popular, aka gets a lot of attention, I got curious, checked it out and GUESS WHAT I liked it!

(thinking about it, I could have been such a hipster in the YGO fandom because I have all this knowledge about Egypt from when I was a kid xD" )

Ah... this issue. Yeah I have been encountering them numerous time. I always ignore it though lol I'll be just wasting my breath against hypocrite. You are right now matter what the reason, if people want to study more about certain things, it's not in the other people's right to judge it.

Teh stupidz. It's everywhere.
In my book it's better to educate yourself about something rather then coming across as completely ignorant.
